Alison Gilbert Art

I studied Textile Design for my degree before beginning a career in the fashion industry. After taking time out to raise my young children, I rediscovered my love of hands-on making through experiments with stitched paper and collage. This exploration gradually expanded to include printmaking, painting, and a wide range of mixed media techniques.

My textile background continues to influence me, particularly in my fascination with colour, pattern, and texture. I create my pieces through multiple expressive layers of collage, print, glazes, and paint. Many layers create the depth and subtlety that I am always looking for in my work.

Each painting is allowed to evolve intuitively, being much more concerned with the mood and feel of the piece rather than representation.
